Congratulations Vemuganti Lab!

vemuganti paperAmerican Heart Association’s flagship journal “Stroke” picks the top 3 most innovative and highly read papers published every year. The Vemuganti Lab’s paper in collaboration with Dr. Louise McCullough’s lab is chosen as #1 paper for the year 2018. They will present the award at the International Stroke Conference in Honolulu next week.

The importance of this paper is that they are the first group to show that microRNAs play a significant role in promoting social isolation mediated depression in aged females following stroke. The lab identified a microRNA that can be therapeutically targeted. This is part of their collaborative NIH R37 grant.
