Welcome to the WONDER Lab! We are a multidisciplinary research team in the University of Wisconsin’s Department of Neurological Surgery dedicated to improving patient outcomes through rigorous data analysis and evidence-based research. Founded by Dr. Azam S. Ahmed and Dr. Ahmed Elbayomy, our lab focuses on leveraging clinical data, national databases, and analytical modeling to discover insights that enhance neurosurgical practice. We welcome students, trainees, and collaborators to explore our work and join us in advancing outcomes-driven neurosurgical research.
Mission
Our mission is to advance neurosurgical care by harnessing data and evidence to improve patient outcomes. We conduct high-impact research that identifies factors influencing surgical success, patient recovery, and quality of life, translating findings into better clinical decision-making. By integrating clinical expertise with data science, the WONDER Lab strives to make neurosurgery safer, more effective, and more patient centered. We are also committed to identifying and reducing socioeconomic disparities in neurosurgical access, treatment, and outcomes through equity-focused outcomes research.
