Dr. Mohamed Zaazoue, MD, MSc, MBA is a dual fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with advanced expertise in complex spine deformities, spinal oncology, and robotic and minimally invasive surgery. He treats a wide range of conditions, including scoliosis, degenerative spine disease, spinal stenosis, cervical spine disorders, spine tumors and spinal trauma.
He completed the prestigious post-graduate adult and pediatric complex spine fellowship with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, uniquely positioning him to integrate the most effective approaches from both neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery to deliver exceptional patient care. Dr. Zaazoue also completed a neuro oncology and skull base surgery fellowship at Indiana University training under Dr. Aaron Cohen-Gadol.
His research focuses on spinal deformities and optimizing surgical outcomes to help patients live their fullest, most active lives—with the least invasive intervention possible. In 2024, Dr. Zaazoue was accepted into the Spine Emerging Investigator Program by the American Academy of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Zaazoue is deeply passionate about patient education, believing that informed patients are empowered partners in their care. He is committed to strengthening the surgeon-patient collaboration throughout the treatment journey. His philosophy is that spine surgery is a team sport that takes a whole team inside and outside of the operating room to optimize patient outcomes.
In 2025, Dr. Zaazoue was selected by the North American Spine Society’s SpineLine Editorial Board as one 20 under 40 spine surgeons, honoring rising stars in the field of spine surgery across the country.
During his residency at Indiana University, Dr. Zaazoue was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2019 and was elected for membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society in 2021.
Prior to moving to the U.S., Dr. Zaazoue founded a nonprofit organization spreading public health awareness in Egypt and the developing world, focusing on vaccines and preventable diseases such as childhood pneumonia. He was featured by Forbes magazine on their “30 under 30” list in 2014 as one of the most influential people in the field of social entrepreneurship. His work was also featured in the Financial Times as well as local and regional media.
Dr. Zaazoue strives to build clinical and research relationships in the field of neurosurgery and spine surgery at UW and beyond to deliver the best patient care and outcomes.
