Dr. Ahmed Elbayomy is a Research Fellow and Data Scientist in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. A former Neurosurgery Resident in Egypt, he brings substantial clinical experience to his current role. He also manages Dr. Azam Ahmed’s research lab, leading numerous neurosurgical initiatives and collaborations.
Dr. Elbayomy’s research focuses on improving neurological outcomes, functional recovery, and quality of life for patients undergoing neurosurgical treatment. He aims to identify pre- and post-operative variables associated with inpatient morbidity to enhance patient safety and optimize the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of treatment strategies.
To achieve these goals, he utilizes retrospective databases and prospective registries, applying advanced statistical modeling to investigate predictors of hospital-based morbidity and healthcare costs. He also analyzes long-term patient-reported outcomes to assess the comparative effectiveness and cost-utility of surgical interventions.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, integrating clinical insight with data analytics to explore healthcare trends, disparities, and treatment outcomes.
Outside of his academic and clinical pursuits, Dr. Elbayomy enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and chess, with a strong passion for mentorship and education, he volunteers at the Islamic school, teaching coding and digital skills to children—combining community engagement with his enthusiasm for technology and youth development. Beyond research, Dr. Elbayomy remains deeply committed to community outreach and public health advocacy, reflecting a holistic approach to patient care.
